QHacks is Queen's University's hackathon! QHacks will be hosting a 36 hour hackathon where students from all over Canada will be able to turn their ideas into real, tangible projects. Whether you're a first timer or a seasoned veteran, QHacks definitely has something to satisfy your interests. QHacks also wants to start off their annual hackathons with an inclusiveness for all disciplines. Students from any level of skill, from any field of study are encouraged to bring their innovative ideas for a weekend of creative problem solving!
Any college or university student at any skill level! If you're a student interested in being engaged with the tech industry and a willingness to learn will do wonderfully!
QHacks will be taking place at Queen's University in the city of Kingston, Ontario. The specific details are still being worked out and we will update this as soon as possible!
Absolutely nothing! Not a dime!
Not to worry! We'll have team-formation sessions for you to find the people you want to work with. There will be a lot of others in your situation, and we'll help with that.
A great place for inspiration will be our Facebook Group where people can discuss ideas for projects. Stay tuned for our list of company APIs to spark some insightful thoughts as well.
No. All projects will be worked on from scratch at the event. You'll have enough time to make something you can be proud of.
That's okay! A hackathon is a great place to get some experience. We're going to have tutorials, workshops and mentors to help you along the way to perfection for your project.
Anything you want, whether it's a new mobile app, website, or something cool with the hardware from our hardware lab provided by MLH, there will be a plethora of possibilities for your hacking wonders!
Bring whatever you hack with. You can bring hardware, but keep in mind hardware will be provided. Other things are: a valid form of student ID, a sleeping bag, and maybe a change of clothes.
Industry experts will eagerly be viewing your projects towards the end of the hackathon. They'll have intriguing questions and will choose their favourites, and winners will be chosen from there.
Yes! Hackers are expected to adhere to the Major Legue Hacking Code of Conduct.
We'll be sending busses to Montreal, Ottawa, Toronto and Waterloo. If those aren't convenient for you, we'll be offering travel reimbursements on a case by case basis.
